Alison Plaza

Alison Plaza is a visual artist whose work is deeply informed by a lifelong relationship with horses and the natural world. For more than twenty years, she worked as an equestrian providing Equine Assisted Therapies to children and adults with special needs, an experience that shaped her understanding of movement, spirit, and the profound healing bond between humans and animals. This connection continues to influence her artistic vision and subject matter.

After retiring due to back injuries, Plaza shifted her focus fully to art, beginning with watercolor before expanding into acrylics and resin on wood. Inspired in part by her husband’s creative journey, she developed a vibrant, textured style that celebrates strength, grace, and vitality. While horses remain central to her work, her subject matter now includes dogs, butterflies, and birds. Through layered color, texture, and expressive form, Plaza creates pieces that honor companionship, resilience, and the enduring beauty of the natural world.
