Gail Butters Cohen is an expressive figurative and landscape artist whose work explores the relationship between human nature and the natural world. Living between South Florida and her cottage studio in the Laurentians, she draws inspiration from woodland walks, intergenerational connections, and the memories that shape our lives. Working in mixed media, oil, and acrylic, Cohen creates richly layered compositions that incorporate both natural and human-made elements. Through a process of building, removing, and rediscovering materials, she creates works that reflect themes of memory, relationships, loss, renewal, and the ever-changing seasons of life.

Primarily self-taught since 2010, Cohen has studied with respected art mentors throughout Canada, the United States, and abroad. She has facilitated women’s creative retreats, taught mixed media figurative workshops, and exhibited extensively throughout South Florida. Her accomplishments include a large-scale solo exhibition in Delray Beach and First Place honors from the Palm Beach Watercolor Society. Her artwork is held in private collections across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Israel. Viewing creativity as an essential tool for healing and well-being, Cohen creates daily, inviting viewers to find personal meaning and shared humanity within her evocative visual narratives.
