German Benavides
German Benavides is a Colombian-born artist whose passion for art began in childhood and was encouraged by a family that supported his creative ambitions. After graduating from high school, he moved to Bogotá to further his education, studying design at the Art Institute of Bogotá and architecture at the University of the Andes. These experiences helped shape his understanding of composition, structure, and visual expression, providing a foundation for the artistic career he would later pursue.
After relocating to the United States, Benavides dedicated himself fully to his art, developing a practice centered on emotion, intuition, and personal experience. Working in a variety of mediums but primarily in acrylic on canvas, he creates expressive compositions through splatters, palette-knife textures, drips, and dynamic layers of color. His paintings reflect his current state of mind and draw inspiration from family, life experiences, and the emotions that connect them. While abstract art remains his primary mode of expression, Benavides continually explores new creative directions, believing that art has the power to inspire happiness and meaningful human connection.
