The Yellow Way

DEK is a Brazilian artist and architect whose work explores movement, structure, and emotional tension through minimalist form and assembly-based composition. He earned a degree in Architecture and Urbanism from the Pontifical Catholic University of Goiás in 1979, simultaneously pursuing careers in architecture and the visual arts. During the 1980s, DEK gained recognition through exhibitions across Brazil and internationally in Japan, the Netherlands, France, and Portugal, receiving accolades including awards from Vasp, Sanbra, and the Contemporary Salon Art Show in São Paulo.

Rooted in both architectural precision and expressive abstraction, DEK’s practice focuses on the subtle details where passion emerges through form and function. Central to his work are his sculptures in the Assemblies and Panels Series, where layered constructive elements come together to examine the emotional and societal forces shaping human experience. Through balance, texture, and movement, he creates compositions that blur the boundaries between design, sculpture, and conceptual art, resulting in work that feels dynamic, thoughtful, and deeply reflective of contemporary life.
