Inspired by Jerry Garcia’s legendary “Tiger” guitar, this sculpture is an attempt to translate sound into steel. Like Garcia’s playing, the form balances precision with freedom, structure with spontaneity.
Built from forged and shaped steel, the piece reflects both the craftsmanship of the original instrument and the raw energy behind it. The exposed welds and hammered surfaces were intentionally left visible, honoring the handmade nature shared by both blacksmithing and music.
For Deadheads, Tiger was never just a guitar — it was a voice. This sculpture reimagines that voice in metal: permanent, weighty, and still vibrating long after the last note fades.
